Poppy 'Mother of Pearl' is a distinctive variety, originally developed by the English artist and gardener, Sir Cedric Morris. The beautiful single and double blooms boast a gentle palette of smoky lilac, pink and white with dainty flecking on the petals, all with a metallic-blue undertone. These poppies will happily take care of themselves, simply scatter the seeds into finely raked soil and leave! Once flowering has finished, their striking seed heads provide a second season of interest and will self-sow ready to produce another beautiful display the following year. Height: 45-60cm (18-24in). Spread: 30cm (12in).

Sowing Information

Direct sow Poppy seeds outdoors where they are to grow in spring or autumn. Choose a position in full sun on fertile, well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, just below the soil surface. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 7 - 14 days. When Poppy seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 30cm (12") apart.
