A regional favourite, Walla Walla onion seeds offer sweetness at the first bite with more crunch than tears. It's mild in taste and less aromatic than any other regular growing onions and provides less sulphur content. Use raw, roasted, baked, or sauteed to compliment fresh flavours to your salads and a great source of fibre to your homecooked dishes.

Originally taken from Corsica to the Walla Walla Valley in the USA, this old variety has been selected for its sweetness, jumbo size and round shape. The seed can be sown late December-April, planted outside in May and harvested August-October. Height 30-40cm (12-16") Spread 11-20cm (4-8").

With 200 seeds per average packet, this vegetable seed is a must-have addition to your homegrown produce. Be sure to use it soon after harvest to experience all the succulent flavours and potential this sweet onion has to offer!

Growing Information

Sow thinly March/April into finely raked, firmed soil 13mm (½") deep in rows 30cm (12") apart. Germination 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 10cm (4") between plants. Use thinnings as salad onions. Can also be sown late December-February 3 seeds per small pot in a propagator or greenhouse at approximately 15-20°C (60-68°F) eventually planting outside in well-prepared soil. Water freely during dry weather.
