This robust F1 hybrid outperforms older varieties, offering faster germination, earlier flowering, and a longer bloom period with an even greater flower yield. Delphinium grandiflorum 'Hunky Dory Mix' is a compact, dwarf perennial that produces highly branched plants with numerous shorter flower stems, ensuring a continuous display of colour throughout the summer. The mix features three complementary shades: deep blue, soft sky blue, and pure white. These large, vibrant flowers are supported by bushy, well-rounded plants, making them ideal for the front of borders or for container planting. Height and spread: 30-40 cm (12-16 in).

Sowing Information

Sow February to April. Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag and keep at a temperature of between 18-20C (64-68F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination usually takes 21 to 30 days.

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3 inch) pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions for 10 to 15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm (9-12 inches) apart.
