Growing Information
Extremely hardy, and particularly useful in cold areas. For exhibition sow January-February under glass at 18-21°C (65-70°F). For general purpose sow March-April outdoors in prepared seedbed for use from October to April according to variety. (30-32 weeks maturity).
Sowing Information
Sow thinly direct into a finely raked seedbed at a depth of 13mm (1") in rows 30cm (12") apart. Germination can take up to 19 days. Transfer when plants are 15-20cm (6-8") high by making holes with a dibber 10-15cm (4-6") deep and 23cm (9") apart, drop a plant into each hole and fill with water to settle soil around roots. Allow 38cm (15") between rows. Water well during dry periods. To blanch, draw up earth to stems as growth develops.
